Brussels Hosts Markets, Concerts, Outdoor Screenings July 18-19

Brussels hosts more than 40 listed events this weekend, from dawn markets to late-night film screenings, as city districts roll out summer programming.

Local organisers stepped up planning after recent months of disrupted travel and shifting international conditions, giving residents fresh options for short outings within the capital rather than longer trips.

Place du Jeu de Balle in the Marolles district opens its extended flea market at 6 a.m. on Saturday, while the Cinquantenaire Park hosts the annual Brussels Jazz Weekend starting Friday evening at the Autoworld pavilion. Both sites sit within easy reach of metro lines 2 and 5.

City tourism figures show 87,000 visitors attended last July’s comparable events, with average ticket prices listed at €14 for evening concerts and free entry at most daytime markets. Advance reservations opened on the Visit Brussels site on 1 July and remain open through Friday.

Markets and daytime programmes

Shoppers at the Sablon antiques market on Saturday morning will find 120 stalls between Rue des Minimes and Place du Grand Sablon, with several vintage dealers offering guided walks at 10 a.m. In Etterbeek, the weekly produce market on Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée runs until 2 p.m. and includes cooking demonstrations by the local Slow Food chapter.

Evening options centre on the BOZAR centre, where a 9 p.m. outdoor screening of a 1970s Belgian feature film begins in the forecourt. Tickets cost €8 online or €10 at the door, with capacity capped at 450 seats.

Visitors should check the Visit Brussels app for real-time changes to start times and book market stall maps in advance to avoid queues at the larger sites.
